"A Work Of Art"
Some time back I stood under a big old oak to pray.
I listened and watched that big tree in graceful sway.
Then the wind in gentle tones seemed to say.
I was here when your granddad was a little child.
I've seen this land change in times both hard and mild.
I've been through storms and winters cold and wild.
In graceful tones it whispered to me about days gone by?
How many others had stood here to pray and sigh?
I could see limbs broken and knotted but still reaching high.
Some in casual glance stopped to stare and wonder why.
How could this big tree be here still and growing on?
Roads have been built around it and houses come and gone.
It was in 1850 I fell far and hard but soon began to sprout.
Then in the 1860's musket and cannon balls rumbled all about.
The 1870's were a cold time as all tried to regain from a ravaged land.
In the 1880's buffalo were shot and killed by the greed of man.
The light bulb and telephone quickly reaching, changing this vast domain.
It was in the 1890's people migrated to America like a great chain.
In the 1900's an automobile and assembly line changed forever this world I see.
In 1910 Armistice was signed the 11th hour of 11th day of 11th month, to set men free.
In the 1920's began the great depression and the first time across the Atlantic in non stop flight
It was the 30's that poverty struck and in the 40's war again comes in sight .
In the 50's mankind is still fighting and comes that which shook the world a hydrogen bomb.
The 60's come threatened with communism and a dark hanging cloud of Vietnam.
The 70's were anxious no doubt and the truth of our president came like a shout.
The first computer dots the scene and 200 hundred years for America come about.
1980 begins war times with Iraq and Iran and Mt. St Helens blows its top.
In 1990 the world's oil is going dry and the great wall goes down with a drop.
The 2000's turn by yet the world remains and virginity considered by many a shame.
Then 2010's roll hardly by and so few now call on Jesus name.
What you see on the outside is merely bark but it is when I'm cut down; will reveal my heart.
Until then I'll grow stronger in the morning each day and consider I am created a work of art.

Isaiah 65:1. I Am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name. 2. I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts; 3. A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick; 4. Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels; 5. Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day. 6. Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom, 7. Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the Lord, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom. 8. Thus saith the Lord, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all. 9. And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there. 10. And Sharon shall be a fold of flocks, and the valley of Achor a place for the herds to lie down in, for my people that have sought me. 11. But ye are they that forsake the Lord, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number. 12. Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not. 13. Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, my servants shall eat, but ye shall be hungry: behold, my servants shall drink, but ye shall be thirsty: behold, my servants shall rejoice, but ye shall be ashamed: 14. Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit. 15. And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord God shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name: 16. That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes. 17. For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. 18. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. 19. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. 20. There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. 21. And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. 22. They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. 23. They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the Lord, and their offspring with them. 24. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. 25. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the Lord.
I heard a man say that if Christ didn't come soon, He would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. I then wondered if this man really knew Who God is. We have all heard how mankind is more sinful now than ever never really stopping to consider that one unforgiven sin is all it takes to separate us from God. Babies have been sacrificed in Old Testament times in sacrifice for sins to a false god and so it goes on today, Adulterers and perversion are a steady product of an evil world and they always have worked very hard to make their lives appear the norm and freedom. The freedom God has issued in Jesus Christ, is that you now have a Savior in Jesus Christ. He is not the norm but the super norm and He is free indeed. There will never be peace on the earth as it is, but God has already sent His peace in Jesus Christ, that all may have peace with God. Churches today seek programs and gimmicks as they try to grow a church. It is sort of like keeping a plant in water until it can be placed in the earth. Accepting more of the world into the church will never work but accepting Christ into the world will. I'm planning to spend more time under that tree in prayer but more important, to listen to a loving God. The bark you find on the outside of this Wood are scars and joys. The real truth is in my new heart and it will be known as I am known by the one that created me. I have learned that I feel the strongest in prayer. I have learned that I do not have to say a word to pray. Sometimes, I like to sit and be held by the Master. I like to listen as He breathes. I like to sit and watch Him work and I really like the times He invites me to work with Him. I have learned that each storm I have weathered has made me to become stronger for the next that will come my way. I have learned that God has given me strength and continually strengthened me to allow me to walk closer to Him. I have learned that being close to God means being in the center of the storm and knowing that we will walk out on the other side. May God Really Bless You! Keep shining and be as good as you can be and when you have a chance; you pray for me.
