Reflections Of

Howell Area Southern Baptist Association

Commit Your Life To Win At Least One Soul To Christ This Year. You Will Be So Blessed.

"Howell Area Baptist Church News "

We are Not Just Howell County Baptist Association but we are a special group of folks known as Howell Area Southern Baptist Association of twenty four churches in Howell, Oregon, Ozark and Shannon Counties. Our name changed in 1981 as we dropped the word county as we became an area association. We are so blessed to know and share the fellowship with the fine Christians on the edges of our surrounding counties.

Immanuel -has started building a new sanctuary.   Interim Pastor John Reese

Bethel -called T. B. Smith as pastor.   Pastor T.B. Smith

Howell Area Baptist Association:“Let’s Ask God” I am completely amazed at the total anti-Christ attitude the world, but worse, my nation has developed. Miss California’s answer that one-man, one-woman marriage is best draws outrage from gay activists. Yet none seem to care if Christians and their beliefs and life styles are attacked. No one seems to consider it a hate crime when traditional family values are attacked. All of a sudden once again we are called racist if we do not agree with politics and this is now being accused of all races, not just black and white. Christian people are not racist, not anti gay, anti youth, anti senior adult or anti gender whether male or female. We are however anti sin. I am saddened to know that I could possibly be jailed for preaching the Word of God which I am called to do. We consider it love to explain sin but more so to show God’s answer to sin. It is and will always be Jesus Christ My Savior. Most Christians and denominations in our Christian faith do not agree on every detail of the Word of God. We do agree on this one thing and that is that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that His Word is sure, true and unchanging. I as a Christian Southern Baptist Preacher will preach God’s Word. God is Love and that is what I preach. The devil does not like the truth. I still believe in a God that loves America and I believe in an America that will respond when we are attacked. I do not believe in these so called hate crimes but I do believe all hate is a crime. It is astounding how afraid most are becoming of Jesus Christ. It is acceptable to teach about any type of religion except Jesus Christ. He cannot be allowed in many public places nor His name mentioned but yet He is there. His name is used by people of terrible language when they are outraged yet they claim He does not exist. And they claim I’m crazy for believing He is the Son of God. I am once again returning to the wisdom of Granny Clampett of the Beverly Hillbillies. She said, “Jed, do you get the feeling we’re a living with a bunch of nuts?” I am amazed at how much we can find to argue about and how much we believe, because THEY said so. We argue about baptism, Lord's supper, boss in church, grace, calvinism, tongues, prayer language and the word of God. It sounds like the tower of Babel all over. We should be reminded that it is not the world nor God that has let us down but we as believers in Jesus Christ that has let the world down. Let us be very careful not to get siphoned into racism or into what our Republicans or Democrats can do. It looks like we’ve done enough. Let’s ask God to take hold and let’s follow. May God Really Bless You! Psalms 50:15  Bro     Bob Wood DOM

Director Of Missions Report

By Bob Wood

Howell Area Baptist Associational Director

We have had a wonderful and fast ten years. I am happy that there are no small, big, rich or poor churches in Howell Baptist Association, because we are all the same in God’s eyes. We have great churches and pastors that have accepted me as the Pastor’s pastor, and I thank God for allowing this to happen. I am here to serve God through the churches, Pastors and Leaders of Howell Baptist Association, and Regina and I have felt God’s power in our lives as we have reached to serve with you fine folks since we've been here. We have a mission minded association. When our churches become involved in missions, the baptisms go up as well. I thank you so much for allowing me to preach and work in our churches. You've also encouraged me to preach in revivals both in and out of our association. This is so appreciated by me as my first calling is to preach. I am so inspired as well, by the children and youth in our association. The kids at camp often ask me if I will be preaching at camp. This encourages me so much to know that they want me to preach. I know it has to be because they recognize that I truly love them. I am so proud of you and pray that you continue the good work in Jesus Christ our Lord!! I and the association want to thank our churches for your increase in involvement, evangelism, training, finances, prayer and love, in your local church and your local association. Thanks for not only getting to know us but for also loving us. Thanks for working with me as I learn to become a better Director and I pray for God’s Blessings on you and each family member. These are exciting times in the lives of Howell Area Baptist Association, Missouri Baptist Convention and the Southern Baptist Convention. Keep up the good work; God loves you and we do too.

And call on me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

Psalms 50:15

We have all seen many turtles dead in the middle of the road but the only turtle that makes any progress must stick out his neck and plunge ahead carefully. I call you to be sure Jesus is God's Son, born to a virgin, died and buried, raised again, ascended to heaven, is coming again, is not willing that any should die and go to hell, is urging all to answer yes to His call to salvation, He is the only way to heaven and is calling all Christians to be workers to carry His Light and Word both at home and all over the world. If we are to love gays, adulterers, radical feminist and others that are out of God's will, then we must not support them financially and we must love them enough to tell them they are wrong. Our job is to tell them about Jesus, not to compromise and or befriend them. We are not called to accept all of the religions of the world but we are called to preach Jesus Christ. You are not called to get along with the politically elite of your convention, or of pastors or DOMs or of this world's politics and parties. We are called to make a difference because the One very different, made a difference in our lives. Standing in the middle of the road is dangerous. You will get knocked down by the traffic from both ways. Stand in Christ.. I have even been called crazy for standing for the fact that I believe so in Christ. I remind my accusers that a mighty oak was once just a little nut that stood its ground. In the past we as Missouri Southern Baptist have had five institutions that have decided by themselves to become self governing. Folks, that is the tail wagging the dog. If you really believe this works; tell your boss tomorrow that you will make your own rules at work from now on and there will be nothing they can do about it and besides this is a free country and your autonomy says you may work where you please. Also to make it sound good; tell them it is for their own legal protection. You have to wonder about a lot of humans anyway. They think God is dead and Elvis is alive. It is time Missouri Southern Baptist and all Evangelical Christians get on their knees and Pray. Remember togetherness is two tom cats with their tails tied together hung over a clothes line but it sure is not unity. We have heard much about the local autonomy of the church and how we are interfering with this autonomy. We are not interfering in any way. Your local autonomy gives you the privilege to believe anything you want to but our autonomy as an association, state convention, or national convention gives us the right to disagree with you and even ask you to leave, because your beliefs are not in anyway of like faith and order, as we as Southern Baptists believe. We can then with prayer continue in unification to carry out the Great Comission. I pray for our brothers and sisters in other denominations, where others are causing division and disrupting God's worship in Jesus Christ. As a child I rode bareback on an old under-fed mule. I got what you will get as long as you sit on the fence. I got a sore back side. I love God, the HBA, the MBC, the SBC, the USA and I surely love you.

We love You! & May God Really Bless You,

Bro. Bob Wood
