"Kentucky Night"

There are joys in life that seem just right but a Kentucky night is pure delight.
The lightning bugs come out to play and mark the close of another day.
The katydids greet the moon and perform a concert all in tune, and in the distance sounds a loon.
A coyote joins in to howl and there's the hoot of a big old owl.
A barge moans its horn and the night once again is fully born.
The night air a gentle breeze fills my life with tranquil ease.
My eyes now nod so close to sleep and I feel peace so inward deep.
There are joys in life that come quite cheap, but these are sown by God, that I do reap.
There are joys in life that seem just right, but a Kentucky night is pure delight.
