"Marriage Vow Renewal Ceremony"

We are assembled here in the presence of God, loved ones and friends to experience this renewal. We pray that it always pleases God when we dedicate and rededicate our lives and our homes by an act of worship.

As you know, marriage when properly understood, is the most delightful and sacred of human relationships. It is where we hold hands and blend our lives, bearing life's burdens and sharing life's joys and sorrows, while we walk through life together.

In our day marriage by many is lightly regarded. But marriage still remains in the sight of God an eternal reunion, which is made possible by Him.

Before we renew our marriage vows, let me remind you of what you said I do to. You promised to love and cherish each other, to honor and sustain each other, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth, in the bad that might darken your days, in the good that will lighten your ways and to be true to each other in all things until death alone shall part you.

All may assemble on request or you may have a more formal entrance as the couple or couples enter properly spaced, marching from the rear. You would do well to have a coach on hand to show the proper time for each couple to begin their march. All in attendance should rise and then be seated by the minister in charge.

Matthew 19:4. And he answered and said, Have ye not read, that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female, 5. and said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh? 6. So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Ceremony: Will You Please Join Right Hands.

Do you promise to renew the vows which you made when you were first united in marriage?

We Do.

Do you promise to keep the vows and covenant which you made at your wedding?

We Do.

Do you promise to cultivate your love for each other by discipline, understanding, trust, compassion, thoughtfulness, patience and mutual consideration?

We Do.

Do you promise to endeavor to create a Christian environment in your home and help each other to live Godly lives in Christian service?

We Do.

Because of the vows which you have renewed with each other and with God in the presence of these witnesses, let us now join in a prayer of dedication.

You may kiss the bride again.

I present to you as rededicated in marriage.

What God has joined together, let no man put asunder.

There will be a reception to follow.

Congratulations!! --Music begins and the couples proceed out in the same order as the entrance was made.

I have used this ceremony and have adapted it in a variety of ways. I welcome you to do the same. Feel free to copy and adapt this as you use this in your services. I have used it around Valentine's day as a semi yearly event to renew wedding vows. We used full dress and decoration and the youth usually served and decorated making this to utilize full church involvement. I hope this will make your load in the ministry a little lighter.
