thankful

I am thankful to my parents for teaching me to look for good in myself and to be strong and for teaching me how to make it on my own, with a will to keep going along.

I am thankful they taught me how to love my children and my wife and to always be alert to the best parts of life.

I am thankful they taught me not to search for pity from this world but seek more ways my love to unfurl.

I am thankful they taught me how to love my whole family not just one and for pushing me to find strength in this race I each day run.

All of my life I have been less than tall but I have learned to be big enough, to be small.

I have learned that when it is not enough, an answered prayer; I have a special peace; my God is there.

Ezekiel 22:12 In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord God. 13 Behold, therefore I have smitten mine hand at thy dishonest gain which thou hast made, and at thy blood which hath been in the midst of thee. 14 Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the Lord have spoken it, and will do it. 15 And I will scatter thee among the heathen, and disperse thee in the countries, and will consume thy filthiness out of thee. 16 And thou shalt take thine inheritance in thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the Lord.

So many tell today how they were abused, beaten, betrayed, stolen from and unloved and how it has made them into the mean people they are today. I witness to you this day this is a choice that you make and each choice you make will effect you and those around you. If your parents were any of the above; rather than try and understand why; choose to learn from their mistakes. We must learn from the mistakes of others because we will not live long enough to make all of these mistakes ourselves. What these people have taught you is what not to do if you will become the best Dad, Mom or friend that you can be. I have never inherited anything but everlasting life and that was from my heavenly Father. I am not wealthy to some of the world's standards but I have such wealth. You and I are fighters and best yet; we are winners. You and I are royalty and we hang out with royalty. Our best Friend is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. So what if your birth family sold you out and your past life a little less than a dream. You have a family of your own and best yet a heavenly Father that will never forsake you or leave you. Keep smiling and be as good as you can be and when you have a chance; you pray for me.
