"Time Has Come And Gone"

The years have come and gone since God gave me my little boy. You were born and I felt happy and scared all at the same time. I was afraid I would never make a Daddy. I held your little hands and squeezed your little toes, and I held you in my arms like you would shatter. I watched you cough and hurt. I sang you to sleep, then watched you while you slept. I rode you on my shoulders and took you and your BB gun hunting, rattling, fidgeting and shooting every tree in the woods. I took you fishing and we would end up walking the banks, talking, kicking and picking up rocks and sticks, and building fires. I watched you play ball and even tried to be a coach. Your glove was almost too small for a baseball. I remember your first little wagon. You got in it in the store and wouldn't get out. You didn't know it but I cried when I had to leave you with your first babysitter, and I cried when you started to school. I really cried the first time you came and confessed that you had lied, partly hurt and partly proud. I cried when you came and said the first little girl had broken your heart. The years have come and gone. I said bad things and I acted tough. It seems like the only word I ever got to say was NO. But, I Love You are the words I remember the most. The years have come and gone, and now you're graduating. I'm so proud of you, and yes, I'm crying again. I guess it's because it's finally dawned on me, that my little boy has become a man. Forgive me Son, for time has come and gone. You only get one chance at being a Daddy and by the time you learn how, it seems Time Has Come And Gone.....

Ecclesiastes 9:10 ... Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest ...11 ... I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
