"We Two"

We two today saw the world anew, as we saw the lake in our canoe.

The water was clear with wind quite strong, but still with joy we traveled along.

A good day we've had though no fish caught; still happiness shared that can't be bought.

The lake was quiet with hardly a sound, though life was strong and all around.

A red wing blackbird atop a cattail swings, and lifts it's throat with joy it sings.

The sky was gray, yet the sun shown through, and this is a great day to be we two.
