"When I Awoke"

While I was asleep in slumber dreams deep, I felt you were gone and I would forever be alone.

I felt I would never touch your face, nor again would smell your hair, and it all seemed so unfair.

From the corner of your eye I saw your smile of joy, then I saw the look you shared, when so often I would annoy.

I saw the worst hair a head could grow, then I saw you so radiant as your black hair shined so.

Life to you dear has been so kind and a kinder lady I could never find.

I felt you were gone and I felt so all alone.

Our children you've given and we have shared a life, so way beyond compare.

I've tried to tell you of my love often, with hopes often shaded, your life to soften.

While I was asleep in slumber dreams deep, I felt you were gone and I would forever be alone.

When I awoke you were still there, and I have again today, to show you how much I care.

Thank You Lord for your love to share today, I was asleep, but have never felt love so deep, as when I awoke.
